The DuBois Area Beavers handed the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen a 41-20 setback on Friday night in a game played at Dutch Country Stadium.
The game was a defensive struggle early on, as neither team scored in the opening quarter. Then DuBois put together a couple of second-period drives to score twice. The Beavers scored once in the third quarter, then in the final period of play when a total of six touchdowns were put on the board, four of them coming within the first four minutes of the period.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and C.A.P.S.E.A., Inc. (Citizens Against Physical, Sexual and Emotional Abuse) is committed to providing confidential care to victims of domestic violence in Elk and Cameron counties.
â€śWe provide victims (with) 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year access to our services,â€ť said executive director Billie Jo Weyant. â€śWe are going to concentrate on Domestic Violence Awareness Month, but also provide a lot of other services. We have a 24-hour shelter; if anyone needs to flee domestic violence and find a safe haven, we can provide that.
Area residents in need of physical therapy now have a new option for meeting their rehabilitation needs.
Phoenix Rehabilitation and Health Services, Inc., which specializes in physical therapy with Pilates-focused techniques, opened at 425 Old Kersey Rd. next to the Red Fern at the beginning of September. The business is under the direction of Sherron McGowan, a physical therapist, orthopedic clinical specialist and certified Pilates instructor.
During a presentation at the North Central Gas Expo on Thursday, Danielle Boston, director of public outreach for the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association (PIOGA), discussed the wide variety of jobs that will be available as the Marcellus Shale natural gas formation is developed in the region.
She said that the development of the Marcellus Shale will provide jobs not just immediately, but also for generations, since the well site development and management process often extends to 50 years or more.
