Elk Catholic's Crusaders recorded a big victory on Thursday evening when they handed the previously undefeated DuBois Central Cardinals a 69-64 overtime loss at the Aaron J. Straub Gym on the Elk Catholic campus. Ben Daghir's three-point shot at the buzzer tied the game at 54-all at the end of regulation, then the Crusaders outscored the Cardinals 15-10 in the OT to win the game.
"This was a good win against a very good team," stated Coach Aaron Straub of the Crusaders. "I am very happy with the way we played tonight. We played a very aggressive ball game, both on offense and defense."
The Port Allegany Gators overcame an early lead by the St. Marys Area Flying Dutch wrestlers to come up with a 36-29 victory last night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
St. Marys was able to take a 17-0 lead as Damien Wensel recorded an 8-4 decision at 103 pounds over Lucas Manning. Trenton Bowers gave the Dutch a 9-0 lead when he pinned Dalton Caden at the one-minute mark of their 112-pound match.
