Anna Marie Herzing

Anna Marie Herzing, 75, of Church Street, Tyler, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at home.
She was born April 29, 1935 in Tyler, daughter of the late Angelo and Concetta (Paturzo) Cataldi. On Oct. 21, 1961, she married William J. Herzing, who survives.  
She was a homemaker who lived all her life in Tyler. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, word searches and especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren.

Council approves installation of fire hydrants

Members of the St. Marys City Council voted to approve the installation of three new fire hydrants at strategic areas around the city during their meeting on Monday evening.
The hydrants will be placed on Rosely Road at the end of the city-maintained road near the turnaround, on S. St. Marys Road just prior to the entrance to Pepsi Bottling Group, and on S. St. Marys Road near the intersection of Comfort Lane.

Upcoming program helps students understand dangers of drug addiction

In an effort to drive home the dangers of drug use and abuse, area middle school students and a parent will have the opportunity to view The Reality Tour at no cost this year.
The Reality Tour is a drug prevention and awareness program hosted by the Elk County Drug and Alcohol Consortium (ECDAC). The three-hour interactive presentation will take place at the Elk County Courthouse Annex in Ridgway beginning at 6 p.m. on the following dates: Feb. 21, March 21, April 18, May 16, Sept. 19, Oct. 17 and Nov. 21.

James Ruel Cristini

James Ruel Cristini, 67, of North Broad Street, Ridgway, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 20, 1943 in Brockport, son of James Cristini of Brockport and the late Virginia (Zimmerman) Cristini.
He married Linda (Hooven) Cristini, who survives.
Cristini served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a tool and die maker for local manufacturing for 43 years, retiring from Clarion Sintered in 2008.
He was a member of the Ridgway American Legion and VFW. Born and raised in Brockport, he had been a Ridgway resident since 1964.
