Crusaders shut out Rams for 34-0 Homecoming victory

The Elk County Catholic Crusaders picked up a 34-0 Homecoming victory over the Johnsonburg Rams on Friday evening in a game played at Dutch Country Stadium in St. Marys.
"It was a good team effort and a good Homecoming win," said ECC coach Travis Skrzypek. "This was a trap game. We had a nice game last week coming into this one. It was hard keeping their (the team's) focus a little bit."

Moniteau Warriors hand Dutchmen 39-15 setback

WEST SUNBURY - The Moniteau Warriors handed the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen their first loss of the season last night by a 39-15 score in a KSAC game played at Moniteau.
The Warriors are now 5-0 on the season, while St. Marys slipped to 4-1.
It was the big plays that gave the Warriors three of their touchdowns, as Dustin Geagan scored on 45- and 89-yard runs and Ethan Pry scored on a 40-yard play.
“I give Moniteau credit. We got outplayed. Moniteau has a nice football team, very physical,” said St. Marys coach Joe Schlimm.

ECC sporting new uniforms as they rock the field with Elvis

The members of the Elk County Catholic High School Crusader Marching Band are sporting a new look this season as they showcase their new uniforms during their halftime performances at football games and during competitions.
As part of this year's halftime show, the band is channeling the spirit of Elvis Presley, performing a familiar medley of melodies: "Burning Love/C.C. Rider," "Hound Dog/Jailhouse Rock/Love Me Tender" and "Can't Help Falling In Love."

SMAHS bringing 'new life' to the field

The St. Marys Area High School Marching Dutchmen are bringing ancient mythology to life during their 2011 halftime show, entitled "Rise of the Phoenix."
The band is under new director Adam Brooks, who has taken over the reins from former director Chris Gankosky.
Among the band's repertoire this year are pieces that including "Sunrise at Angel's Gate," "Flight of the Thunderbird," "Phoenix Lullaby" -- all written and arranged by Shawn Halquist-- and "Moto Perpetuo," written by Key Poulan.
