Leona L. (Gagliardi) Hasselman

Leona L. (Gagliardi) Hasselman, of St. Marys, died at her home, on Saturday, December 10, 2011 following an illness of the past nine months.
She was born on Apr 22, 1941 in Force, a daughter of the late Antonio and Sophia Black Gagliardi.
On July 16, 1964, she married the late James S. Hasselman, who preceded her in death on December 27, 2000.

M. Jean Asti

M. Jean Asti, 73, of 249 N. St. Marys Street, St. Marys, died on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at her residence after a courageous battle with emphysema.
She was born April 21, 1938 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Leander and Alice Sorg Haberberger. On September 6, 1958 in the St. Marys Church, she married the late Anthony J. "Junior" Asti, who preceded her in death on January 11, 1994.

Wreaths pay tribute to area veterans

In what has become an annual event, wreaths purchased by area residents are being laid on graves of veterans at the St. Mary’s Catholic and Protestant cemeteries to honor their military service throughout the holiday season.
Area residents gathered at a noon ceremony Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in preparation for the wreath-laying. The St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail posted the colors and the assembly recited the Pledge of Allegiance and observed a moment of silence prior to remarks given by Father Eric Vogt, OSB, who spoke about the purpose of the event.

Tractor Supply raises money to benefit area 4-H

ST. MARYS - Tractor Supply Co. in St. Marys, known as store #107, was third in the state for collecting the most money through the charitable Paper Clover program, the proceeds of which benefit 4-H. A certificate signed by Donald T. Floyd, president and CEO of the National 4-H Council, was presented to store employees, as well as a ribbon designating its top status in its Region 5 division for the fall 2011 campaign. The store collects money nationally each year to fund 4-H programs and activities.

Dominick (Nick) Sette

Dominick (Nick) Sette, 78, of 178 Evers Ave. St. Marys, died Friday Dec. 9, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born December 16, 1932 in Ridgway, son of the late Frank and Concettina Curado Sette.
On May 4, 1957, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Beverly Klancer, who survives.

Nancy R. Beimel

Nancy R. Beimel, 70, of 759 Johnsonburg Rd. Elco Glen, St. Marys, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness of the past several months.
She was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on March 11, 1941, daughter of the late Frank and Helen Johnson Nottingham.
She had formerly lived in California and Reynoldsville.
Nancy enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an animal lover and loved her dog. She loved to travel, do ceramics, read and write poetry.
