Theresa Virginia Nebesnak, 82, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, and formerly of Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born on Oct. 3, 1929 in Lackawanna, N.Y., to the late Samuel Pace and Virginia Flynn. She married Emil S. Nebesnak, who predeceased her on Aug. 30, 2004.
RIDGWAY - County commissioners on Tuesday released an $11.3 million spending plan that features no new taxes highlighted with a 3-percent wage increase for bargaining and non-bargaining county employees.
"We're very pleased to announce that the 2012 proposed budget will now be on display," said Elk County Commissioner Daniel R. Freeburg. "We're very pleased that there is no tax increase forecast in the numbers.
ST. MARYS - At the Elk County Job Fair held Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Activity Center in St. Marys, 22 employers representing the transportation, telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and service industries were on hand to meet with area job seekers like Adam Robuck of Kersey, who said he has been in the job market since October 2010. Robuck said prior to that, he had been employed with GKN Emporium until the company initiated a reduction in its workforce in 2008.
RIDGWAY - Officials discussed the intricacies of two prison policies Tuesday morning during a lengthy meeting of the Elk County Prison Board.
Board members highlighted an existing policy regarding work release and school release inmates, and also discussed a policy regarding the detainment of inmates on civil and criminal bench warrants issued by a Court of Common Pleas judge.
