James Vincent Marcolivio

January 20, 2011

James Vincent Marcolivio, 89, of Hermitage Hills Blvd., Hermitage, died peacefully at 4:08 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, with his family at his side.
Mr. Marcolivio was born July 6, 1921, in Ridgway, the son of the late Giuseppe and Michalina Lemongelli Marcolivio.

New business offers variety of graphic design services

Area residents in need of graphic design services now have another option with the creation of Adam Feldbauer's new business, Adam Feldbauer Design.
Born and raised in St. Marys, Feldbauer learned the fundamentals and principals of 2D and 3D design while attending Edinboro University. He also holds an associate degree in business with a specialization in design from DuBois Business College.

It's Girl Scout cookie time

Calling all Girl Scout cookie fans: It's that time of year when Girl Scouts around the country embark on their annual cookie sale. Orders are now being taken until Wednesday, Jan. 26, with delivery expected the week of February 24.
Once again, this year's offerings include Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Lemon Chalet Cremes, Trefoils, Dulce de Leches, and Thank U Berry Munches.
All eight varieties are selling for $3.50 a box, the same cost as in past years. Troops receive proceeds of 65 cents per box for senior scouts and 60 cents for junior and cadet scouts.

County holds meeting for emergency management plan

Municipal representatives from Elk County held a meeting at the Courthouse Annex Building Wednesday night for a briefing on an All-Hazard Mitigation Plan that is to be developed by consulting firm Michael Baker Jr., Inc. and adopted as Elk County's Emergency Management Plan.

County officials withdraw finances from airport

In what was a mere formality, the Elk County Commissioners voted Tuesday morning to officially cancel any current and future financial obligation to the Bradford Airport Authority.
According to Elk County commissioner Daniel R. Freeburg, who also serves as first vice chairman on the Bradford Airport Authority, the wheels of change have been rolling for years now.

Flying Dutch top Punxsutawney 52-45

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen picked up their ninth victory of the season on Tuesday evening as they defeated the Punxsutawney Chucks by a 52-45 score in a District Nine League encounter at the Punxsutawney Area High School gym.
The Dutchmen fell behind in the first quarter of play, but came on strong in the second quarter to take the lead at the half. They held the lead at the end of three by two points, then outscored the Chucks 15-10 in the final stanza to win the game by seven points.

Albert Joseph Zwack

Albert Joseph Zwack, 93, of Mineral Point, Wis., died on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 at Upland Hills Health Care in Dodgeville, Wis. after suffering a stroke a week prior.
He was born March 26, 1917, son of the late Aloysius and Clara (Wilhelm) Zwack. Because of his mother’s early death and his father’s absence due to duty in the Merchant Marines, he was raised by his paternal grandparents in Marysville.
On Oct. 6, 1945 in St. Marys, he married Helen (Goldthorpe) Zwack, who preceded him in death in 2000.

James L. "Wilbur" Fritz Jr.

James L. "Wilbur" Fritz Jr., 71, of 276 South Michael Circle, St. Marys, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born May 18, 1939 in St. Marys, son of the late James L. and Ruth Ryden Fritz Sr.
On Nov. 4, 1967, in the St. Mary's Church, he married Linda Francis, who survives.
