DuBois wrestlers down Dutchmen 40-25

The DuBois Beaver wrestling team advanced to the finals of the District 9 Class AAA team championship by handing the St. Marys Area Flying Dutch squad a 40-25 loss last night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
The Beavers will now meet top seed Clearfield Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the DuBois Area High School for the District 9-AAA title. The Dutchmen were seeded second and the Beavers third.
In last night’s match, the Beavers opened a 30-10 lead with five matches remaining to hold off the Dutch.

Crusaders hang on to defeat DuBois Area 65-51

The Elk County Catholic Crusaders came up with a big District Nine League victory over the scrappy DuBois Area Beavers by a 65-51 score in a game played at the Aaron J. Straub gym at Elk Catholic.
The game was a game of runs, as each team had several runs throughout the contest. At times during the contest, it looked like the Crusaders might run away with the game, but then the Beavers would put together a run of their own to get back into the game.

Bluewater Thermal Solutions to offer induction hardening

Bluewater Thermal Solutions, located at 118 Access Rd., St. Marys, held an open house Thursday morning to introduce the company's new induction heat treating process.
According to General Manager Jason Hanes, induction hardening differs from traditional furnace hardening because it focuses on hardening a specific area of a part instead of the entire part.
"No one in the area offers that type of hardening process," Hanes said.
Hanes explained that by by using induction hardening they can take a gear, harden only the teeth, and leave the rest of the material unchanged.

Fox supervisors discuss new business items

Among the new business items approved by the Fox Township Supervisors were those pertaining to paving, a potential construction project and a flood plain ordinance.
The board approved adoption of a flood plain ordinance as requested by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency).
"This is being required by FEMA and was not initiated at the township level. It is part of their newest update of maps," noted Kathy Dowie, township secretary.
