Cleanup begins today at Ridgway fire scene

Building owner Edward J. Aiello said Tuesday night that cleanup will begin today at the site of the fire that engulfed the 3-story brick building at 205 Main St. in downtown Ridgway.
"We've had opinions from the fire department and the police but we need to bring in a structural engineer to see if the building can be saved," Aiello said. "We're not going to wait around long on this."
Pa. State Police officials gave Aiello permission Tuesday to begin to clean up the site both inside and out.

City still pursuing selling water to drillers

The City of St. Marys is still pursuing selling water to companies in the Marcellus drilling industry, according to City Manager Dave Greene. Greene provided members of city council with an update on Monday evening regarding the progress the city has made in finding interested drilling companies to purchase effluent water, which has been treated and discharged from the city's wastewater treatment plant.

St. Marys Pharmacy giving back to Relay for Life

In an effort to give back to the local community, the St. Marys Pharmacy/Home Medical has chosen to become a major sponsor as part of the 2011 Elk County Relay for Life, a program of the American Cancer Society (ACS).
As part of this venture, St. Marys Pharmacy (SMP) recently donated $1,000 to the American Cancer Society. In addition, the business also established its own Relay for Life team.
SMP Relay Captain Kari Ryan announced the businesses' sponsorship of the event during the March 8 monthly meeting of ACS Relay teams.
