Frances "Babe" Wilhelm, 90, of 1169 Windfall Rd., St. Marys, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 16, 1920 in Byrnedale, a daughter of the late Fiorillo and Marie Cortina Canton.
On Sept. 8, 1951 in Force, she married Edward H. Wilhelm, who survives.

ST. MARYS – Employees and officials at Pro Process, LLC in St. Marys recently surpassed 1,500 safe days at their building along Brusselles Street in St. Marys.
According to Mark Myers, manager of the company and a Johnsonburg resident, Pro Process, LLC began operations in October 2002 as a supplier of secondary machining operations for the powder metal industry.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the American Civil War, and in honor of the occasion Bucktail Regiment reenactors plan to construct a lumber raft
in Driftwood on Saturday which will be similar to those built by the original Bucktails as they made their way to Harrisburg in April 1861.
The Elk County Conservation District voted unanimously Monday to approve an extension for wetland mitigation at the new Bennetts Valley Senior Center, located at 149 Plum St. in Weedville.
The permit for the mitigation plan was extended to June 2012.

M. Jean Gigliotti, 82, of 101 North Mill St., Ridgway, and formerly of Wilcox, died Saturday morning, March 26, 2011 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a short illness.
She was born March 2, 1929, daughter of Raymond and Mary Anderson McConnell.
She married Robert Fowler on March 14, 1946 and he died in 2002. She married Natale Gigliotti and he died April 5, 1992.
She resided in Ridgway for three years and Allentown for 20 years. She attended Harding Jr. High School in Philadelphia.

DAGUS MINES - The Vietnam Veterans of America Bucktail Chapter 720 celebrated "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" on Sunday at the American Legion Post 511 in Dagus Mines. Earlier this month, the United States Senate and House introduced resolutions declaring March 30, 2011 as "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day." This is the third year the Bucktail Chapter has been holding a welcome event to recognize area veterans and their families.
Following the opening ceremonies, Bucktail Chapter 720 President Ron Guilyard addressed veterans and their family members.
St. Marys Area High School juniors Scott Barber and Brian Merritt recently each brought home top honors from the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) state competition, held March 2-4 in Lancaster.
Barber was awarded with a top prize in the Pathophysiology knowledge test, while Merritt captured first place in Sports Medicine.
Joining Barber and Merritt in placing at the competition were Alyssa Fenton, Anna Prechtl and Samuel Guido, who worked as a group and took home third place in Creative Problem Solving, while Trenton Schreiber finished in fifth place in Medical Spelling.

"A Pearl of Great Value" is the theme of this year's Heritage Gala, an annual event that celebrates education and benefits students at St. Marys Catholic Elementary and Middle schools.
The gala will be held Saturday, April 9 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Red Fern in Fox Township. Proceeds benefit the Parent/Teacher Organization (P.T.O.), which has made a $150,000 commitment to the schools' budget.
Members of city council recently approved awarding bids for both truck/operator services and blacktop patching services for the year. In each instance, only one company submitted a bid.
Bucktail Excavators was the sole bidder for truck/operator bids at per-hour rates of $45 for a single axle, $55 for a tandem, $65 for a tri-axle, $80 for a crawler and $60 for a mini-crawler.
"These bid prices stayed the same as in 2010," said City Manager Dave Greene.
He added that the services would only be utilized on an as-needed basis.
The Winter Athletic Awards program honoring the winter sports athletes at Elk County Catholic High School was held on Wednesday evening. The program opened with an invocation by Father Ross Miceli, followed by the welcome by ECC Athletic Club President Chris Schneider. Principal Sandy Florig gave an overview of the program, followed by acknowledgements by Athletic Director Aaron Straub.
