Dutchmen down Coudersport Falcons 11-1

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch baseball team improved to 9-8 on the season with an 11-1, five-inning victory over the Coudersport Falcons Monday at Berwind Park.
Monday was the completion of a suspended game that began on April 26. That game was halted in the bottom of the first inning with one out and St. Marys up 2-0.

Lady Crusaders defeat Johnsonburg Ramettes 5-0

Taylor Schlimm recorded her 11th shutout of the season on Monday afternoon at Benzinger Park as she pitched the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders to a 5-0 victory over the visiting Johnsonburg Area High Ramettes.
Schlimm gave up only three hits in the game, while striking out seven and walking no one.
Kiana Myers was the losing pitcher for the Johnsonburg girls as she gave up just six hits, walked six and struck out one.

City to move forward selling wastewater effluent

The city plans to move forward on selling effluent water from its wastewater treatment plant. Members of city council announced during their Monday evening meeting that Second Sun Oil and Gas, LLC recently expressed interest in purchasing water, with the plan to act as a broker and resell the water to EOG Resources, Inc.
City Manager Dave Greene explained that he, along with Public Works Director Mike Mullaney and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Lad Kornacki, recently met with members of the St. Marys Municipal Authority, and the proposal was made at that meeting.

Ordinance proposed regulating outdoor furnaces

The Fox Township Planning Commission has recently prepared a draft ordinance amending the zoning ordinance to address outdoor woodburners, oil and gas wells and windmills.
Russ Braun of the Fox Twp. Planning Commission was in attendance at the meeting to discuss the changes to the ordinance, which would conform to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) regulations. In turn, the DEP standards comply with the manufacturers' installation guidelines.
He noted Fox Twp.'s new ordinance is modeled after nearby Sandy Township's.

Greene indicates retaining wall issues will be addressed

Residents exiting State Street at its intersection with SR 255 have likely noticed by now that a portion of the retaining wall near Ace Auto Rental, 344 S. St. Marys St., has come loose and is lying on the sidewalk.
According to City Manager Dave Greene, the wall is not city property and instead belongs to Ace Auto Rental.
"It's their wall," Greene said.
