Sgt. Daniel from the Ridgway-based Pennsylvania State Police attended the Jay Township Supervisors meeting yesterday evening to see if residents had any concerns that he could address and to also provide an update on crime trends in the area.
The St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce is looking to the future as they undergo a complete reshaping of the organization in an effort to better serve the local business community, as well as individual residents.
"I would like to see the Chamber as a more positive, active force in the community," said recently elected president Mark Rupprecht. "The board is made up of accomplished individuals that are community-minded and want to help move this Chamber into a position where it's respected within the community."
City Manager Dave Greene indicated to members of city council earlier this week that he recently met with Dean Ball, project manager for PennDOT, regarding the reconstruction project planned for SR 255.
When asked if PennDOT plans to start work this year, Greene responded that by the end of May they would probably begin talking to property owners about acquiring the properties they need in order to make the improvements to South St. Marys Street.
