Acting at a North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission [NCPRPDC] board meeting Wednesday morning, officials green-lighted a loan proposal to allow the sale of Love's Canoe Rental & Sales.
The real estate property was purchased by Miranda Neville and Steven Putt of Country Squirrel Outfitters, LLC, located in Canon City, Colo.

ST. MARYS – The upcoming expansion and renovation at Elk Regional Health Center (ERHC) is designed to modernize many services and enhance the level of patient care and satisfaction for residents of Elk and Cameron counties and surrounding communities.
A group of Make-A-Wish supporters headed up by St. Marys residents Nancy O'Vell and Leah Leuschel is planning to hold their first annual canoe dice run on Saturday, June 11. The event is slated to begin at Lazy River Canoe Rental along Main Street in Ridgway and will end in Portland Mills.
Registration will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the last dice rolls will take place at 5 p.m. sharp. There is a small registration fee.
O'Vell explained that the idea to hold a canoe dice run "came out of the blue" when she and her husband, Roger, attended a recent canoe race in Emporium.
Nature Abounds will be assisting the Elk County Conservation District [ECCD] in an effort to monitor the water quality of the streams for the Elk County Monitoring Project.
Nature Abounds is a nonprofit organization located in Clearfield that serves as a center for people to connect with like-minded individuals interested in protecting the environment and taking action toward creating a healthier environment.
The Ridgway Area School District held a special board meeting Tuesday afternoon to accept the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Tom Butler.
The board voted unanimously in favor of accepting Butler's resignation after discussing the matter in a 45-minute executive session.
Mary Jane Urbancic, 69, of 202 Badeau Rd., Kersey, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Jan. 31, 1942 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Gust and Gertrude Pontzer Johnson.
William P. Gerg, 84, of 142 Taft Rd., St. Marys, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 8, 1927, in St. Marys, son of the late Anthony and Flora Minard Gerg.
John W. Gaskill, 82, of 808 Washington St., St. Marys, and a resident of Pinecrest Manor, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Elk Regional Health Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 11, 1929 in Trenton, N.J., son of the late Floyd and Anna Yeager Gaskill.
On April 5, 1973, in Ridgway, he married Jeanne D. Dippold, who survives.
