The smallbore standard rifle team championships were held Monday at the Ridgway Rifle Club as part of the NRA National Silhouette Championships.
The overall team champions were "B.A.S.S." That team finished with a total score of 207. Team members are Susan Peery (Churchton, Mass.), Cathy Winstead-Severin (Joplin, Mo.) and Laura Goestch (Whites Creek, Tenn.) Winstead-Severin had a 77 to lead the team.
BRADFORD â€“ Rain showers throughout the day on Saturday did little to deter a large crowd from gathering at Parkway Field in Bradford for this yearâ€™s Big 30 Don Raabe Charities Classic All Star Football Game. Under the direction of the Kane Area High School coaching staff of head coach Jason Barner and assistant coaches Rick Fisher, Todd Silfies and Jim Sirianni, the Pennsylvania squad romped to a 28-3 victory over New York.
Approximately 300 people, including the general public, business owners and industry representatives, had the opportunity to catch a behind-the-scenes look at an active Marcellus Shale drilling rig as part of the EOG: B2B Network Day held Friday afternoon.

Rita M. Hanes, 89, of 297 Wilson Road and recently of Elk Haven Nursing Home, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 following a short illness.
She was born December 8, 1921 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Jackson and Theresa Glatt Tucker.
On August 12, 1950 in St. Marys Church, she late Paul J. Hanes, who preceded her in death on September 30, 1999.
Mrs. Hanes was a member of St. Mary's Church.Â She worked as a nurses' aide at Elk Haven Nursing Home for many years.Â She
enjoyed cooking, canning, and ï¬‚owers.Â Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with with her children and grandchildren.
Construction on the parking garage is near completion and City Manager Dave Greene recently indicated that he anticipates ownership of the facility being turned over to the city by the middle of this month.
At the most recent city council meeting, councilman Bob Roberts suggested that the city offer free parking in the garage for one month to help residents become acclimated to the new facility.
KERSEY â€“ As patrons stroll the Elk County Fairgrounds this week, they might be interested to know that several organizers have been around since the event's inception in the early 1970s.
Ernest Mattiuz, vice president of the Elk County Farm Bureau, has been around since the third county fair and fondly remembers the constant evolution with ease.
Unofficially, the fair started out in 1974 as a weekend event held at the Kersey Community Center. The following year, the event was held behind the building and it was turned into a weeklong event in 1976.
This year, students in the St. Marys Area School District (SMASD) will be permitted to possess asthma inhalers and epinephrine auto-injectors and to self-administer the prescribed medication in compliance with state law and board policy. This policy was approved during a recent school board meeting.
The building at 429 N. St. Marys St. in St. Marys has been the site of a grocery store, a roller skating rink, and a variety of other businesses. It is now the new location for major appliance store Western Home Appliances, which is holding a grand reopening this weekend.
Recently St. Marys Area School District Superintendent Ann Kearney updated the school board on budget issues.
This year, the district has absorbed six professional positions and combined other positions at a savings of over $500,000 to their current budget.
Additionally, positions absorbed in the past three years have helped with the budget crunch which other districts have been experiencing.
The 2011 Elk County Fair kicked off Wednesday evening with the Opening Ceremonies, which were attended by State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Elk/Clearfield), the Elk County Commissioners, various township supervisors and fair board personnel and volunteers.
