The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch wrestling team saw their record slip to 2-4 on the season with a 53-18 loss to the Brookville Raiders last night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
While the Dutch took a 15-6 lead through four matches, the only points St. Marys scored after that came on a 3-2 decision by Joe McLaughlin at 182 pounds over Tyler Dombroski.
â€śBrookville is as very good wrestling team. Even with some guys banged up, they wrestled well,â€ť said St. Marys coach Dominic Surra.
BRADFORD - The St. Marys Area High School swim team split their second dual meet of the season when they met the Bradford Owls on Monday afternoon at the Univ. of Pittsburgh at Bradford Natatorium. The Lady Dutch just narrowly missed a win with their final score of 86-84 in favor of the Lady Owls. The Dutchmen notched a decisive victory over the Owls with the final score of 115-48.
A representative of Elexco Land Services was present at Thursday's meeting of the Jay Township Board of Supervisors seeking a use permit in order to conduct seismic testing on the township's more than 50 miles of roads.
Raymond Ullrich of Elexco explained that his company was commissioned by EQT to procure the seismic testing permits.
"I thought I was just coming here [to Thursday's meeting of the board] to pick up the permit to take back and have it bonded," Ullrich said. Instead Ullrich spent the better part of an hour fielding questions from residents about what the project entailed.
BROOKVILLE â€” Testimony about a jailhouse confession by Steven P. Rebert emerged during his Aug. 11, 2010, preliminary hearing in the shooting deaths of Victoria and Wayne Shugar, and Thursday, the man who allegedly heard the confession testified for the prosecution Thursday.
Joel Eagleson, formerly of Phoenix, Ariz., now residing in Batavia, N.Y., told the jury about a 15- to 20-minute conversation he and Rebert had in early June 2010, after Rebert had been arrested by authorities in Genessee County, N.Y., for possession of a weapon.

Shirley M. Wolff, 81, of 3727 Old State Rd., Daguscahonda, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at Elk Regional Health Center.Â
She was born July 27, 1930 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Charles Gerber and Loreena Knowlton Demoizes.
On Jan. 20, 1948, she married the late Miles R. Wolff, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1985.
