WARREN – Central Pennsylvania Investment and Wealth Management Company (CPI), a locally owned, full-service financial institution located in St. Marys, has announced the opening of a branch office in Warren. The expansion into the Warren market will allow CPI, an independent firm processing with Woodbury Financial Services Inc., to further assist its clientele in providing proactive financial solutions.
HARRISBURG - Because of the damaging effects of Hurricane Sandy, PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch has announced that effective today, PennDOT has authorized an extension of the expiration dates for Pennsylvania driver licenses, identification cards and vehicle inspections/registrations.
Grace M. "Grayce" Uher, 90, of Dunbar died on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at Highlands Hospital in Connellsville.
She was born on March 14, 1922 in Connellsville, daughter of the late John and Anna Goulosh Kendrish.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary societies. She retired from Pechins Foods (produce and meat departments).
Grayce was an avid cook and baker. A favorite pastime of hers was collecting angels.
Stephen B. "E.T." Palmer, 45, of 101 Fern Lane, Kersey, died Wednesday morning, October 31, 2012, at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport following a short illness.
He was born Nov. 2, 1966 in St. Marys, son of Donna Schreiber Palmer and the late Frederick Palmer.
Formerly of St. Marys, he resided in Kersey since 1990. He attended St. Marys Area High School and graduated from Jeff Tech, DuBois, as a machinist.
He was a member of Queen of the World Parish in St. Marys. He especially loved spending time with his children, camping, hunting and fishing, and driving four-wheelers and snowmobiles.
Arbutus L. Kear, 84, of Redwood Avenue in Weedville, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at Christ the King Manor.
Born on Sept. 17, 1928 in Tyler, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Lewis) Tesauro. On July 16, 1949, she married Arthur F. Kear, who survives.
She was a homemaker and attended Weedville Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.

HARRISBURG -- Because of accelerated payment and mail schedules, State Treasurer Rob McCord today advised those who will receive benefit payments this week from the Public School Employees Retirement System, the State Employees
Retirement System, and the State Supplementary Payment Program to first
verify the date on those checks before attempting to deposit or cash
those payments.
Treasury adjusted its planning and mailing schedules in anticipation of
Hurricane Sandy, said Treasurer McCord, in order to avoid a delay in
the arrival of certain priority payments. As a result, checks sent

HARRISBURG - Due to the dangerous wind speeds associated with Hurricane Sandy, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) are expanding temporary speed limit reductions and some vehicle restrictions to eastern and south central Pa. roadways.
ST. MARYS - Recently, the North Central Workforce Investment Board, the Community Education Council of Elk and Cameron Counties and Elk County Catholic High School jointly hosted a parent information session entitled, “Career Planning for Your Child.”
With a major job and job-training shift taking place all throughout America, it is critical that parents and students understand this shift and its implications. The session focused on parents being involved in helping their children make career choices.
In less than one week, three different trash sites have been located on the Elk State Forest. The sites were located close to Emporium, within seven miles: Canoe Run Road, Four Mile Road and Crooked Run Road. The sites' content was varied: food wrappings and paper, old computer parts and finally, housewares.Â
