ERIE - A St. Marys woman, Sandra Prechtel, charged with embezzling nearly a million dollars from her employer, Abbott Furnace Company, entered a guilty plea to charges of mail fraud and tax evasion on Friday before a U.S. District Court Judge in Erie.
Now in its 11th year, the annual K-9 Karnival Walk 'n Wag, sponsored by the Elk County Humane Society, is taking place this afternoon at Benzinger Park in St. Marys beginning at 11 a.m. There will be games, prizes and more.
Aggressive dogs and female canines in heat are discouraged from attending.
This fuzzy little caterpillar may look cute, but the hairs on its body can cause a burning, stinging sensation and rash when touched, so specimens of this kind should be avoided. Elizabeth M. (Betty) Gausman, 90, died Thursday evening, Oct. 4, 2012 at Highland View Nursing Home in Brockway, following an illness of the past nine months.
She was born July 15, 1922 in Carman, daughter of the late Joseph P. and Mary F. Oresko Griech.
