Man charged with vehicular homicide bound for court

ST. MARYS - A Byrnedale man, the alleged driver in a violent crash on SR 255 in Byrnedale that left 23-year-old Savannah O. Straub dead, was in District Court Tuesday for his preliminary hearing on charges including homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence.

Pinecrest celebrates high rating from state

ST. MARYS - Pinecrest Manor recently received a "zero deficiency" rating from the Pa. Dept. of Health following an October survey and is now in the top four percent of nursing homes nationwide.

Body of second Kane drowning victim is recovered

LUDLOW – The body of a Kane man who drowned with his wife when their canoe capsized Nov. 11 was recovered Tuesday from the Allegheny Reservoir.

Mrs. Richard "Marie" Gerg, 46, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died last week following a lengthy illness. A funeral Mass for her was recently celebrated in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Among her survivors are her husband "Rick," a St. Marys native; two daughters, Amy and Katelyn and a grandson, Anthony.
Rick is the son of Mary L. Gerg and the late J. Donald Gerg of St. Marys.

Karen (Benson) Vanderstouw

Karen (Benson) Vanderstouw of Albuquerque, N.M., died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 following a one-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was the daughter of the late Alver and Evelyn Benson.
She was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1959.
Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Boller; two grandchildren; and her brother, William Benson of West Chester.
