LUDLOW – The body of a Kane man who drowned with his wife when their canoe capsized Nov. 11 was recovered Tuesday from the Allegheny Reservoir.
Mrs. Richard "Marie" Gerg, 46, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died last week following a lengthy illness. A funeral Mass for her was recently celebrated in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Among her survivors are her husband "Rick," a St. Marys native; two daughters, Amy and Katelyn and a grandson, Anthony.
Rick is the son of Mary L. Gerg and the late J. Donald Gerg of St. Marys.
Karen (Benson) Vanderstouw of Albuquerque, N.M., died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 following a one-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was the daughter of the late Alver and Evelyn Benson.
She was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1959.
Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Boller; two grandchildren; and her brother, William Benson of West Chester.

Vera Elizabeth Knoff, 91, of Oak Street, Force, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at her home.
She was born April 20, 1921 in Force, the daughter of the late Charles and Bada (Cameroni) Angelo. On July 24, 1948, she married Richard Curtis “Riddy” Knoff, who predeceased her on Nov. 1, 2005.
She lived all her life in Force. She was a graduate of Jay Twp. High School and worked at Sylvania in Emporium from 1939 to 1944 and with the Shawmut Mining Company as a Clerk in the late 1940s. She also worked as a clerk with the U.S. Post Office for 31 years until her retirement in 1981.

The 2013 City of St. Marys budget is available for review pending City Council's approval to advertise it during Monday's meeting. Council must adopt the budget before the end of the year.
"The rates for the 2013 [budget]-- our tax monies stayed exactly the same as last year," said City Manager Dave Greene.
There is no tax increase in the 2013 proposed budget as it is very similar to the 2012 budget. The general fund was balanced at $5,971,291 and reflects no increases in wages or changes in benefits for all employees.
LUDLOW – A State Police boat is scheduled to participate today in the search for the body of drowning victim in the Allegheny Reservoir.
Chuck Hall, chief of the Ludlow Volunteer Fire Department, said Monday evening that the State Police boat will launch today from Dunkle Corner on the reservoir. Several Ludlow firefighters again will be participating in the search, Hall said.
Richard A. Wortman Sr. 77, of 1069 Johnsonburg Rd., St. Marys, died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 unexpectedly at his residence.
He was born Sept. 17, 1935 in St. Marys, son of the late Andrew and Lorina Benninger Wortman.
On Jan. 31, 1959 in St. Marys, he married Joan D. Caskey, who preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2000.
Mr. Wortman was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. He was a retired employee of the Airco Corp. and Windfall Products. He had also owned his own cleaning business, Wortman Cleaning Services.
Marguerite E. "Betty" Frank, 92, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Lynch Road, St. Marys, died on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born June 21, 1920 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Charles and Helena Kullertz Ambuske. On April 7, 1945, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Raymond B. "Goona" Frank, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1996.
Betty was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1938.
November 18th
Students at April School of Dance performed in the school's large picture window as a large crowd gathered outside to watch. Several performance took place inside.
