Now in its 17th year, St. Marys resident Laura Kuntz continues to collect donations for her Christmas in Kentucky program, a project which furnishes less fortunate families with Christmas gifts as well as everyday necessities.
Three years ago, following the implementation of $20,000 in cuts to the St. Marys Public Library's state funding, library director Scarlette Corbin first contacted the St. Marys Area United Way to request financial assistance in the form of a United Way allocation.
Rita M. Anzinger, 93, a resident of Christ the King Manor in DuBois and formerly of 219 Wendel Rd., St. Marys, died on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at Christ the King Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 9, 1919 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Schneider Leithner.
On June 8, 1936, in the St. Mary's Church, she married Wilfred E. Anzinger, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1989.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School.
Area residents counted down to light up downtown St. Marys during Friday's annual Light Up Night festivities.

Laetitia M. "Lettie" (White) McHale, 55, of Cranberry Township, died Thursday evening, Nov. 15, 2012, after an extended illness.

ST. MARYS - The St. Marys Area Christmas Day Dinner is entering its 18th year, and area residents are welcome to attend this free event filled with holiday cheer.
Patricia Pontzer Lanese, 72, of Highland View Health Care in Brockway, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Ridgway, the daughter of Robert and Bertha Friery Pontzer. She graduated from Ridgway Area High School, Class of 1958.
Norman H. Shrubb, 66, of Washington, Pa., died Thursday, Nov. 1 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born June 11, 1946, the son of the late Wayne and Louise (Lewis) Shrubb of Spring Run Road, Weedville.
He enjoyed cooking, the outdoors and had a green thumb for plants and flowers.
