JAMES CITY – Opposition is building against a plan by Seneca Resources to dispose of drilling fluids in one of its depleted gas wells near James City in Highland Township.
RIDGWAY TWP. - A Ridgway man has been charged with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, simple assault and resisting arrest after he allegedly attempted to strike a state trooper and threatened to stab another while brandishing a pen he had swiped from the trooper's shirt pocket.

After having not seen any elk in his designated hunt zone throughout the first four days of last week's week-long elk hunt, by Thursday evening St. Marys resident Sylvester Kronenwetter was ready to give up.
Members of St. Marys City Council tabled changes to two ordinances in order to make minor changes to the documents during their recent workshop.
RIDGWAY - A year-long investigation of drug trafficking in Elk County spearheaded by the Ridgway Borough Police in conjunction with the Office of Attorney General's Municipal Drug Task Force has culminated in the arrests of nine county residents charged with various drug violations.
JOHNSONBURG - Two Johnsonburg men have been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl whom they picked up outside a slumber party at a St. Marys home.

Mary H. Marroni, 87, of Wexford House, Kingsport, Tenn., and formerly of St. Marys, Johnsonburg and Ridgway, died Monday morning, Nov. 12, 2012 at Wexford House in Kingsport, Tenn. following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1925 in Ridgway, the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Eleanor Rosaria Tegano. On June 9, 1943, she married Earnest J. Marroni, who preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1965.
William E. Barrett, 87, of 316 N. Michael St., St. Marys, died on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at Highland View Health Care in Brockway.
He was born Jan. 29, 1925 in Bellefonte, a son of the late William E. and Elmira M. Cain Barrett.
On June 6, 1959 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, he married the late Marilyn Hammer Barrett, who preceded him in death on June 5, 1996.
Russell (Rusty) Auman, 63, formerly of St. Marys, died on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at his home in Puyallup, Wash. after a long battle with MS.
He was born in St. Marys on Aug. 1, 1949, son of the late Marinus and Doris (Fritz) Auman. He was married to Lori (Barnhouse) Auman, who preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2002.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Friday marks the city's annual Light Up Night festivities, which will feature a new Christmas parade welcoming Santa to St. Marys and marking the start of the holiday season.
