ST. MARYS â€“ An upcoming day camp for children and teens who have experienced a loss through death is being offered to area youth by Community Nurses, Inc.
The free, two-day "Camp Flutterbye" will be held Thursday, June 14 and Friday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at The Pines, located on 1008 Windfall Rd. in St. Marys.
At approximately 4:09 p.m. Wednesday, emergency services personnel were called to respond to a traffic accident that occurred on Ford Road in St. Marys. The crash appeared to involve one vehicle striking a tree and at least one occupant was transported via ambulance for treatment.
Fox Twp. Ambulance, St. Marys City Police Department and Crystal Fire Department were among the responders.
No further information was available at press time.
On June 1 and 2 local Jaffa Shriners will be conducting the organization's Annual Shrine Hospital Crusade, specifically benefitting their hospitals located in Erie and Philadelphia.
Shriners Hospitals for Children encompass a healthcare system of 22 facilities located in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, 19 of which specialize in orthopedic care and three burn hospitals. It is the largest pediatric subspecialty healthcare system in the world. The facilities specialize in treating youth under the age of 18 who suffer from orthopedic problems, severe burns, spinal injuries or cleft lip or palate.
RIDGWAY - Throw on your best polka dot shirt and head on down to the Courthouse Gazebo in downtown Ridgway this Friday night to watch the Friday Niters perform polka hits as part of the polka-themed First Friday initiative presented by the Elk County Concert Series.
The Friday Niters will be performing Friday, June 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to kick off the Eighth Annual Elk County Summer Concert Series.
MT. ZION â€“Â While much of the focus of Saturday afternoon's Memorial Day ceremony at Mt. Zion Historical Park was on the dedication of the Vietnam memorial monument, there was also some discussion focused on the future and the dedication of the park's next memorial, which is scheduled to happen in September.
