With the 150th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg drawing near, the art of the reenactment was on display at the SMAMS grounds this past Friday as part of the school's annual Civil War Reenactment Day.
Liz Baldwin, a reenactor from Ridgway, described the process of creating her character and impression, that of a refugee, and making it authentic in her participation in a reenactment.
Baldwin said that in researching and becoming her character, she focused on details, including what a refugee would have worn and possessed.

ST. MARYS - A visit from a mobile orthopedic educational facility's open house event recently allowed area residents to learn about new treatment options for joint pain and joint replacement surgery, along with advancing technologies in orthopedic care.
Members of St. Marys City Council continued their discussion about instituting an engine brake ordinance during their Monday evening meeting.
As part of the proposed ordinance, signs would be placed along South St. Marys Street near the elementary school. Residents have complained about the loud noises trucks make while they apply their jake brakes as they descend the hill to the traffic light entering downtown.
The St. Marys Area Ambulance Service carried out its main membership drive last month, but it is not too late to join this month and take advantage of the benefits offered.
According to Manager Robert "Bert" Sorg, the ambulance service provides both emergency and non-emergency health care and transportation services to area residents. Full ambulance services are provided to St. Marys and paramedic services are provided to Fox Township, Johnsonburg and Bennetts Valley.
