Carl C. Winkler, 92, of Force, and recently of St. Joseph Terrace, Weedville, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home, DuBois.
He was born Dec. 17, 1919 in Force, son of the late Frank Winkler Sr. and Stella (Gusherowski) Winkler.
On May 3, 1941 he married Shirley Geraldine Smart, who preceded him in death on June 8, 1982.
JOHNSONBURG – A small fire reportedly originated in the basement of an unoccupied house along Main Street in Johnsonburg early Saturday morning. The fire has been ruled an arson, at least the ninth such case reported in Elk County since May 30.
Fire departments were called at 1:52 a.m. Saturday morning, Aug. 25 at 236 Main St. in Johnsonburg. The fire damaged the abandoned residential structure and State Police Fire Marshal Greg Agosti ruled the blaze to be arson.
Damage was reportedly minimal although a dollar estimate is not available at this time. There were no injuries reported.
une was a time of transition for South Street Botanicals in Ridgway, something owner Brandy Raubenstrauch says was simply cosmetic.
“I like change a lot,” Raubenstrauch said. “This also gave us the opportunity to help us increase our retail space and separate the Tea House.”
The new layout features the gift shop in the garden conservatory where the Tea House was originally.
