Council to meet to address developer's status

St. Marys City Council plans to discuss the ongoing downtown development projects spearheaded by Bob Yoder during a closed meeting on Monday, Sept. 24.
Councilman Ned Jacob proposed meeting in an executive session at this week's regularly scheduled council meeting after speaking with a Depot Street property owner who is waiting to sell the property after being told by Yoder that a hotel was interested in purchasing the land.
Jacob said one settlement payment was due in July;however, it fell through due to Yoder being unable to secure financing.

Agreements reached for 911 system

The Elk County Board of Commissioners approved three agreements Tuesday morning regarding the Northern Tier Regional NG911 Telecommunications Project for the county's new 911 Center.
The project, which includes Cameron, Clarion, Forest, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, Crawford and Warren counties, effectively creates a regional 911 system.

Log splitting easier thanks to local man

ST. MARYS - "Necessity is the mother of invention," said Dennis Rogers of St. Marys who built a firewood processor designed to lessen the physical toll of log splitting after suffering a back injury. His invention has since been patented and sold to a Canadian outdoor power products company which currently manufactures and sells the product.
One could say it was a serendipitous chain of events that led Rogers to build the prototype for what would eventually become the WP Wood Processor.
