Early Learning Investment Commission gains momentum

RIDGWAY – "It Takes A Village."
That's the message being spread by Bob Esch, a member of the Pa. Early Learning Investment Commission [ELIC], an entity geared toward the construction of a public-private partnership of business leaders across Pennsylvania who advocate for quality early childhood investment.
There are reportedly roughly 80 board members representing business and education throughout the Commonwealth, but in the six-county region, Esch is it.

Beatlemania takes over ECC Marching Band

The Elk County Catholic High School Crusader Marching Band had spectators singing along in the stands as the performed an array of musical selections from the popular British rock band, the Beatles.
As part of their 2013 halftime show, the students performed five songs of "Magical Mystery Tour," "Eleanor Rigby," "Blackbird," "Yesterday" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band."

Lady Dutch soccer eliminated by Bradford 1-0

For the second year in a row the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch and Bradford Lady Owls met in the semifinals of the District 9 Class AA girls soccer playoffs, and once again the game ended with Bradford advancing with a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Lady Crusader volleyball downs Johnsonburg Ramettes 3-0

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team closed out their regular season with a 3-0 victory over the Johnsonburg Ramettes on Senior Night at the ECCHS gym Thursday night.
The Lady Crusaders took the first set by a 25-11 score. They took the second set 25-15 and won the third set 25-14 to win the match 3-0.
