Stephanic proceeds to trial in shooting death of girlfriend

Following a Friday morning preliminary hearing Michael J. Stephanic Jr., 44, of St. Marys, will be held over for trial on charges he allegedly shot and killed June Talmadge, 48, during a Sept. 3 incident in the parking lot of Eastern Sintered Alloys.
Among the charges filed against Stephanic were criminal homicide, two felony counts of aggravated assault and a felony charge of discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure.
District Judge Mark Jacob found all charges have had burden of proof carried over in the case.

Elk County Catholic honors fall sport athletes

Elk County Catholic High School held its annual Fall Athletic Awards Program on Wednesday, Nov. 13, with the event, which is sponsored by the ECCHS Athletic Association, focusing on the accomplishments of all of the school's athletes during the fall sports season.
