The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch wrestling team opened their dual match season Wednesday night with a 44-28 victory over the Cameron County Red Raiders. It was also the home opener for the Dutch.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 62-31 victory over the visiting Johnsonburg Ramettes on Wednesday evening at ECCHS.
Janice Robinson, 78, of Milan, Pa., died on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1935, in St. Marys. She was the daughter of the late William and Bertha Hulings.
Janice worked at Sylvania in St. Marys. Later, she moved to Milan, Pa., where she continued working at the Sylvania plant there until she retired. She loved to bowl and to play the piano. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Thomas H. Hnath, 84, formerly of 121 West Oilwell Street, St. Marys, died on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Pinecrest Manor following a series of illnesses of the past few months.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1929 in St. Marys, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Bures Hnath.
On Jan. 15, 1950 in St. Mary's Church, he married the late Grace M. Hnath, who preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2009.
Members of St. Marys City Council recently approved the publication of a zoning application requesting property on South St. Marys Street, situated along the Million Dollar Highway, be changed on the city zoning map to highway commercial.
