The Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to by many as Obamacare, is a highly debated topic across the nation. Various groups support the measure and the increase in health care opportunities it provides, while countless others oppose it and continue to fight for its repeal.
While the battle over Obamacare continues to play out on the national stage, it was also the basis for a literal debate recently at Elk County Catholic High School.

John H. Smith, 66, of 16959 Jerusalem Corners Rd., Pleasantville, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1947 to the late Hilary and Bernenice Wyant Smith in Ridgway.
He was a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1965. He attended Gannon University where he graduated with a B.S. in accounting.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany during the Vietnam War.
He moved to Pleasantville in 1971 where he worked for GTE/Sylvania in Titusville and Warren for 10 years.
William "Bill" Shaner, 77, of River Road, Weedville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013 at DRMC after a yearlong illness.
He was born June 16, 1936 in Altoona, son of the late Charles and Thelma (Barnett) Shaner.
On Aug. 2, 1975 he married Pennie (Rosenhoover) and she survives.
David J. Gustafson, 61, of Mountain Laurel Nursing Home in Clearfield died on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 5, 1952 in Ridgway, son of the late Tom and Nellie (O'Brien) Gustafson.
He grew up on Bailey's Settlement in Clearfield and graduated from Curwensville High School.
He resided most of his life in Ridgway. Dave was a Christian who spent many years involved in the Cornerstone Church of Ridgway. He served in the U.S. Air Force and over the years was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Sons of Italy.
