The Elk County Catholic Crusader basketball team picked up their first win of the season with a 67-32 victory over the Kane Wolves on Friday night in Kane.
Bernice E. Ott, 88, of 507 McClelland St., Ridgway, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 13, 1925 in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Louis and Lillian Fleming Entres.
A new service is being offered inside Patty Krivonyakâ€™s Always Stylinâ€™ salon at the St. Marys Plaza as Lindsey Daly is now taking appointments for therapeutic massage.
Daly said that studying nursing led to her interest in helping people through therapeutic massage.
Flying Dove Ranch, a non-profit organization located along Old Red Mill Dam Road in Ridgway, has recently added some new buildings on the property in order to provide more accommodations for guests as well as youth participating in programs hosted at the ranch.
The St. Marys Area gymnastics team opened their 2013-2014 season on Wednesday evening on the road as they defeated the Ridgway Area squad by a 114.975 to 100.125 score.
Beverly Klancer Sette, 77, of 178 Evers Ave., St. Marys, died at her residence on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 14, 1936 in Gowanda, N.Y., daughter of the late Rudolph and Josephine â€śPepâ€ť Kordon Klancer Sr. On May 4, 1957 in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Dominick â€śNickâ€ť Sette who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2011.
On Friday, Dec. 6 the students throughout the Elk County Catholic School System brought a toy in as a donation for Project Gifts for Elk County. The program is run by volunteers who collect toys from many places in the surrounding area. These toys are then bundled, packaged, and prepared for children to receive. Students from the senior class were given the opportunity to assist with this program by helping to sort and wrap the donated toys at the Project Gifts headquarters in downtown St. Marys. Principals from South St. Marys Street Elementary (SSMSE), Fox Township Elementary and Bennetts Valley Elementary along with the St. Marys Area middle and high schools were on hand during a recent school board meeting to discuss reports on each school.
The reports centered around the entire student experience, grades, programs, academics, technology and much more.
The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch wrestling team opened their dual match season Wednesday night with a 44-28 victory over the Cameron County Red Raiders. It was also the home opener for the Dutch.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 62-31 victory over the visiting Johnsonburg Ramettes on Wednesday evening at ECCHS.
