In an effort to avoid duplication of services and to ensure that veterans indeed do not "fall through the cracks," the Elk County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a memorandum of understanding for supportive services for the "Veterans Families Program."
RIDGWAY - New information obtained through police interviews with a Ridgway man accused of robbing a Johnsonburg bank at gunpoint has resulted in charges of theft and related offenses being filed against him.
Details on a collection line system conducted in the Queen of the World Parish area were presented during Monday evening's St. Marys City Council meeting. GIS Coordinator Travis Skrzypek explained the cast-in-place, or cure-in-place, project recently conducted on 1,100 feet of pipe. This type of work can be done on specific areas requiring repair, rather than the entire pipe, saving the customer time and money. The presentation included video footage from a camera inserted into the eight-inch pipes.
Lois Lynch Mallison, 73, died peacefully on Jan. 31, 2013 in Los Gatos, Calif., surrounded by her family after a short, brave battle with brain cancer.
Lois was born on Oct. 21, 1939 in Butler, one of four children in the family of the late Angela and Joseph Lynch. Lois attended Central Catholic High School, where she graduated with classmate and future husband Robert A. Mallison. They graduated together in 1957, were married in St. Marys in 1965, moved to California, and started their family. They settled in Los Gatos in 1971.
Betty Lou Bauer, 78, of 14 Hauber Ave., St. Marys, died Monday, Feb 4, 2013, at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born March 2, 1934, in Coal Hollow, daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel Johnston Colson. On Feb. 26, 1954, in New York, she married Richard J. "Dick" Bauer Jr., who preceded her in death on March 18, 2011.
Mrs. Bauer was a lifelong resident of the area and attended schools in Erie. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, was an avid bowler, enjoyed bingo and camping, and especially enjoyed being with her family.
