The St. Marys Area gymnastics squad closed out their regular season Wednesday night with a 124.075 to 112.3 victory over the Bellefonte team at the St. Marys Area Middle School.
The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch basketball team ran their record to 12-8 on the season with a 38-29 victory over the DuBois Central Lady Cardinals Thursday night at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
Thursday's workshop meeting of the St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors included discussion of the district's preparation for the upcoming implementation of a new set of standardized tests-- the Keystone Exams.
The St. Marys Sewage Treatment Plant continues to see high inflows, as in 2012 more than half of the water treated accounted from storm water and inflow and infiltration (I and I).
Last year 54 percent of the water treated consisted of storm water and I and I, with 46 percent being sewage, while in 2011, 59 percent was storm water and 41 percent was sewage.
Donald E. Kirst, 87, of 627 Fox Rd., St. Marys, died on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 4, 1925 in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of the late John and Louise Degan Kirst.
On Sept. 15, 1945 at St. Mary Magdaline Catholic Church in Buffalo, N.Y., he married the late Kathleen Hughes Kirst.

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen wrestling squad dug themselves a hole early in Wednesday evening's match against the Punxsutawney Chucks, but then were able to rally for a 43-30 win at the SMAHS Dutch Oven.
Members of the Elk/Cameron Counties Local Housing Options Team [LHOT] met Wednesday afternoon to finalize preparations for the third annual housing expo, set for today from noon to 5 p.m. at The Edgewood Hall in St. Marys.
Although the Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department saw a similar number of dispatches in 2012 as in the past 10 years, the amount of structural damage was much higher than average.
The Fox Township Supervisors approved installing a streetlight, continuation of seismic testing and the purchase of garage door openers for the township garage during their Wednesday evening meeting.
Michael L. Stumpff, 60, of Hudson, N.C., died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 after a short illness.
He was born November 1, 1952 in St. Marys, son of Valery J. Stumpff and the late Harry G. Stumpff of Emporium and later Altoona.
He graduated from Cameron County High School in 1970 and attended St. Bonaventure University, graduating in 1974 with a B.A. degree in Economics.
