The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders advanced to the semifinals of the District 9 Class A softball tournament with a 10-1 victory over the Brockway Lady Rovers Wednesday at Benzinger Park.

RIDGWAY â€“ Ripple effects of the federal budget sequester in Washington D.C. are already being felt in our area with everything from schools to public legal defenders bracing for, or already experiencing, funding cuts. By the time Tom Price, Sergeant in Charge of the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail, arrived at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening, a number of volunteers were already waiting to help place around 2,000 American flags on veterans' graves throughout the cemetery ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
