ST. MARYS â€“ A group of former area high school athletes seeking to have the St. Marys Area School District's high school football field renamed after alumnus and former pro football player Dan Conners were met with resistance by the district's board of directors who asked if Conners' on-field achievements were enough to warrant the distinction, given what was characterized as his frayed and distant ties to the community.
John Leo Colle, 73, of Lee, Maine, died on May 9, 2013, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, after a brief bout with cancer.
Born November 9, 1939, in Kane, he was a son of Felix and Elizabeth Colle.
KERSEY â€“ At just 25, Lacey Skillman of Ridgway has been waging a battle against colorectal cancer as she has been in and out of remission for a little over a year.
