The St. Marys Little League softball senior all stars advanced to the finals of the District 10 Tournament with an 8-2 victory over the DuBois squad Friday evening at Benzinger Park.
The St. Marys Little League major league all stars forced a second game with Punxsutawney to decide the District 10 champion by taking a 3-0 victory on Friday evening in a contest that was originally scheduled for Punxsutawney but was moved to St. Marys due to Punxsy's field being unplayable from Thursday's rain.
Â The St. Marys Minor League all-stars (9- and 10-year-olds) won 16-3 in four innings over Johnsonburg in a District 10 tournament game held Friday at Knothole Area Recreational Park in Johnsonburg.
FOX TWP. â€“ Eighteen months of preparation culminated Friday evening as Fox Township kicked off its Bicentennial Celebration. An opening ceremony was held at 7 p.m. at the Fox Twp. Community Park followed by a fireworks display.
The ceremony began with the singing of the National Anthem by Brianna Pontzer, a Fox Twp. resident. This was followed by Ernie Mattiuz of the Elk County Farm Bureau, sharing information on some of the contents uncovered in a time capsule buried at The Toby Grange in 1976.
BRADFORD â€“ Police on Thursday arrested a McKean County man who they say used his computer to look up and download child pornography.
Christopher Williams Abrams, 28, of 20 Burnside Ave. in Bradford was charged after police conducting undercover surveillance on a "peer to peer file sharing program," reportedly traced pornographic images of sex acts involving boys and girls, some as young as three years-of-age, back to his computer.
Ronald E. Radaelli, 77, formerly of the Million Dollar Highway, died on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following an illness of the past year.
He was born June 29, 1935 in Coal Hollow, a son of the late Pietro and Augusta Palazzi Radaelli.
On March 2, 1957 in Brandy Camp, he married the late Anna Bella Johnson Radaelli, who preceded him in death on February 25, 2009.
