RIDGWAY â€“ For the last two years, the Ridgway Area School District's 78 teachers have been working without a contract after a breakdown in talks between them and the district's Board of Directors.
The deadlock continued with Tuesday's meeting of the Board in which all nine of its members voted to reject the latest proposal presented to them by the teachers union.
FOX TWP. â€“ The Fox Twp. Supervisors reported the township will receive just over $86,000 from the Marcellus Shale Impact Fee proceeds. They originally estimated the total at $85,000.
A bid of $41,840 from St. Marys Lumber was approved to sell the company timber recently cleared by the township. Additional bids were received from Walker Lumber Inc., of Woodland for $30,032, Allegheny Wood Products of Marble, Pa. for $31,534 and Matson Lumber Co. of Brookville for $36,170.
Four men and a woman face charges following a June 30 drug bust at the Columbus Apartments at 224 Welsh St. in Kane.
Taihelm Nathaniel Green, 32, of Carnegie, Pa. near Pittsburgh faces four charges, including a felony, for allegedly coming to Kane to deliver and sell drugs.Â
On Thursday, June 27, CNB Bank hosted its second annual charity golf tournament and successfully raised $24,000 to benefit local American Cancer Society programs. The money raised has been donated to the ACS to make the services of Road to Recovery and Hope Lodge programs available to local families.
he St. Marys American Legion Post 103 baseball team lost 6-2 to Port Allegany on Monday evening at Berwind Park in the opening round of the Elk County American Legion Baseball Playoffs. The loss drops St. Marys into the loser's bracket of the double elimination tournament.
