BERWICK – The St. Marys Little League Softball senior league all stars earned the first state title in St. Marys Little League Softball history with a 4-3 come from behind victory over Plains on Monday afternoon at Ber-Vaughn Park in Berwick, capping an exciting week of softball action for the St. Marys team.

Senior softball stars to play for state title

BERWICK – The St. Marys Little League Softball senior league all stars punched their ticket to the state finals with a 3-2 victory over Bald Eagle Area in the 2013 Senior Division Softball State Championship Tournament hosted by Pa. District 13 Berwick Area Little League at Ber-Vaughn Park in Berwick on Sunday afternoon. St. Marys will play Plains for the state title today at 1 p.m.

New social media policy in effect for city employees

A new social media and electronic communication policy was recently unanimously approved by St. Marys City Council.
The policy requires all of the city's 48 employees to sign off on the system which allows the city to monitor social media posts by employees both in and out of the office.

Dancers take home top awards in Ridgway parade

Students from April School of Dance appeared in the 2013 Ridgway Firemen's Carnival parade. Shown on top the "Glam" dancers took home a first place award. Oscar L. Shugars

Oscar L. Shugars, 89, of Penfield and formerly of Brockport, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 19, 1923 in Wilcox, son of the late Oliver and Madaline (Pontious) Shugars.
She married Ruth (Arnold) Shugars and she preceded him in death on January 16, 1998. He married his second wife Leona Shaffer (Starr) Shugars on July 14, 2001 and she survives.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Armored Division.

Craig R. "Hank" Schneider

Craig R. "Hank" Schneider, 52, of the Fayette House on Windfall Road, St. Marys died on Saturday, July 20, 2013 following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 5, 1961 in St. Marys, a son of Donald J. and JoAnn Gahr Schneider of St. Marys.
He was a lifelong resident of the area, attended Queen of the World School and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1979. He was employed at Elcam from 1997 until December of 2012. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards, checkers and watching the Steelers.
