Bernadette H. Kosco, 101, of Harrisburg, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at Arden Courts of Susquehanna – welcomed into the arms of our Creator whom she served her entire life.
She was born May 4, 1912 in New York City, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William E. Howley, the seventh of eight children.
She was a 1933 graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y. She majored in French and during her junior year attended the University of Paris—the Sorbonne. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree she was employed as a social worker in New York City.

Emanuela Costanzo

Emanuela Costanzo, 89, of 314 First Avenue, Johnsonburg, died at her residence on Tuesday evening, Aug. 13, 2013, following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 23, 1924 in Platania, Italy, daughter of the late Carlo and Giovana Perri.
On Feb. 27, 1947 she married Michele Costanzo, and he survives.
Formerly of Italy, she resided in Johnsonburg since 1953.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Church and she loved baking and gardening. She was employed by Caldwell Decorators in Ridgway for several years. She had also worked as a seamstress for most of her life.

Group proposes options for honoring Conners

Advocates for honoring St. Marys native and former NFL player Dan Conners provided their proposals for signage and an exhibit at Dutch Country Stadium during a recent St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors meeting. The board recommended a committee consisting of two board personnel, members of the Quarterback Club and Conners' supporters to meet to further discuss the proposed suggestions.
As an alternative option the group developed their latest proposal. The four changes the group would like to see implemented include three signs and one display/exhibit.

Straub proposes creating SMAHS Alumni Association

In hopes of peaking the support of former St. Marys Area High School students, Terry Straub proposed creating an SMAHS alumni association during the latest school board meeting.
During his presentation to the board Straub said he volunteered to head up the organizational efforts by acting as the group's executive director for the first two years. This would also entail him to act as liaison between the board and the organization.

B94 earns affiliate award

RIDGWAY – B94 recently earned the first Awesome Affiliate of the Week award from Dial Global.
According to Dial Global, this is the first Awesome Affiliate of the Week award. In their recent newsletter, Dial Global officials praise Paul Walker and his crew for doing a "fantastic job with their Bud Light Summer Concert Series.
