Members of St. Marys City Council approved waiving of the open container laws and suspending of parking for two upcoming events.
The St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce was granted permission for an open container event during its annual upcoming Wing Fling on Friday, Aug. 16 from 6-10 p.m. in the Market Street municipal parking lot.
This year's Summer Reading Program at the St. Marys Public Library is drawing to a close, and participants have until Monday to complete their reading journals and claim their prizes at the Scholastic Book Fair, which is set up in the children's section of the library.
SMETHPORT â The attorney for Pastor Mark Hooper of Mount Jewett asked Judge John Cleland to drop the charge of endangerment of the welfare of a child in a hearing on Friday afternoon at the McKean County Courthouse.
Attorney Joseph Charlton petitioned the court to drop the endangerment charge, arguing that the âmissing of a mealâ or not taking the children to a doctor does not rise to the level of endangerment.
Carl W. Cook, 80, of 1102 Horner Rd., Wilcox, died Friday morning, August 9, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a brief illness.
He was born July 7, 1933 in Hazel Hurst, son of the late Carl R. and Lillian Dippo Cook.
He married Beverly Marlene Johnson on November 20, 1954 in the Wilcox Presbyterian Church, and she survives.
Formerly of James City, he resided in Wilcox since 1958.
He was a graduate of the Kane High School and a member of the Wilcox Presbyterian Church and Wilcox Sportsmen's Club.
Edward C. Dankmyer Jr., 82, of Hanover, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, Hanover.
Born October 23, 1930 in Johnsonburg, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Helen C. (OâConner) Dankmyer.
He was the loving husband of Faith A. (Eckert) Dankmyer of Corry.
He was a graduate of St. Vincentâs High School in Latrobe. He served his country proudly from 1952-1954 and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Dankmyer retired after 25 years of service in forestry. During this time, he was employed by Stackpole of St. Marys.
Joseph D. Muhitch, 73, of 117 Lombardo Street, St. Marys, died on Friday, August 9, 2013 at UPMC Monteï¬ore Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born January 27, 1940 in Emporium, a son of the late Frederick Muhitch and Grace Posteraro Muhitch.
On November 19, 1960 in St. Marys Church, he married Phyllis Arnold Muhitch, who survives.
Joe was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central High School, class of 1957.Â He retired from GE Thermometrics after many years of service.Â He was a member of the K of C, Elks, CMF and the Lions Club.
Bobbi Jo Secco, 27, of Vine Road, St. Marys, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born April 28, 1986 in St. Marys, a daughter of Paul and Pam Meyer Secco, who survive.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of SMAHS.Â She enjoyed riding motorcycles, canoeing, camping and ï¬shing.Â She also greatly enjoyed her pets, Buddha, Diggy, Flower, Bella, Chunks and Bailey.Â She was always willing to help other people and will be remembered for her kind heart.Â Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her ï¬ance.
