RandyÂ J. "Crow" Hasselman, 41, of 211 Lawrence St., St. Marys died on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013.
He was born Nov. 2, 1971 in St. Marys, a son of Joan Prudich Hasselman of St. Marys and the late David Hasselman, who preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2003
Randy was a lifelong resident of the area and was Catholic by faith.Â Over the years, he had worked at several local factories.Â He enjoyed ï¬shing and working on small engines.
District Judge Mark Jacob granted a continuance during the preliminary hearing of Michael J. Stephanic Jr., 44, of St. Marys, who is currently incarcerated in the Elk County Prison on charges he allegedly shot and killed June Andrus during a Sept. 3 incident in the parking lot of Eastern Sintered Metals.
Stephanic was jailed on charges of criminal homicide; aggravated assault, a felony of the first degree; aggravated assault, a felony of the second degree; and discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, a felony of the third degree.
Over 500 people participated in the 5K Run/Walk Let Your Bow Glow event held Friday evening on Trout Run Road in St. Marys. The event, sponsored by Elk Regional Health Center and SMP Home Medical, kicked off at 9 p.m. Participants gathered for the pre and post race festivities which included a live DJ, a pink stilt walker, concession stand, prize drawings and vendor booths. The start/finish line was situated in front of the St. Marys Eagles Club. Throughout the course there were many residences cheering on participants from their porches and front yards, some of them handing out beverages.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader golf team handed the St. Marys Area Flying Dutch a 196-227 defeat in a match played Thursday at the Bavarian Hills Golf Course.

The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch volleyball team improved to 6-2 on the season with a 3-0 victory over the Brookville Lady Raiders.
The Lady Dutch took the first set 25-17, won the second set 25-9 and won the third set 25-11 to win the match 3-0.
The St. Marys Lady Dutch made the trip to Kane on Thursday and left town with a 4-0 win over the Lady Wolves.

Martha M. âMarcieâ Meier, 89, a resident of Elk Haven and formerly of 669 Center St., died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after an illness of the past year.
She was born April 19, 1924 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Gerber Meier.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1942. She was a retired employee of Airco Speer, retiring in 1988 after 46 years of service.
Paul Joseph Klaiber, age 61, of Force, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Girard after a He was born Nov. 22, 1951 in DuBois, son of the late Patricia (Klaiber) Bauer.
On Feb. 9, 1974, he married Caren (Cameroni) Klaiber, she survives.
He was a graduate of St. Marys High School Class of 1969 and worked with Powdered Metal Products of St. Marys for 34 years.
