Martha M. “Marcie” Meier

Martha M. “Marcie” Meier, 89, a resident of Elk Haven and formerly of 669 Center St., died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after an illness of the past year.
She was born April 19, 1924 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Gerber Meier.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1942. She was a retired employee of Airco Speer, retiring in 1988 after 46 years of service.

Paul Joseph Klaiber

Paul Joseph Klaiber, age 61, of Force, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Girard after a He was born Nov. 22, 1951 in DuBois, son of the late Patricia (Klaiber) Bauer.
On Feb. 9, 1974, he married Caren (Cameroni) Klaiber, she survives.
He was a graduate of St. Marys High School Class of 1969 and worked with Powdered Metal Products of St. Marys for 34 years.

PSP trooper shot in Brockway

BROCKWAY – A Pa. State Police trooper was shot in the neck Thursday afternoon while serving a warrant at a Cemetery Hill Road residence in Brockway, according to police who called it an "active shooter" situation.

City submits stormwater draft ordinance to DEP

St. Marys City Council conducted a special meeting Thursday evening to review changes to the Act 167 stormwater management draft ordinance. The deadline to submit the draft is today at 4 p.m. Solicitor Tom Wagner plans to e-mail the Department of Environment Protection (DEP) today notifying them a hard copy of the draft has been sent to them.

Shots fired in Brockway

According to scanner reports from Thursday afternoon, local authorities have responded to an area referred to as Cemetery Hill in Brockway in response to multiple shots being fired.

According to WJAC-TV, "a state police spokesperson in Harrisburg confirmed one state trooper was injured in what was described as an 'ongoing situation' on Cemetery Hill Road."

Scanner reports also stated that area schools were on lockdown.

Please exercise caution in this area.

Norma Jean Hockman, 81, of 111 W. Long Ave., DuBois, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born on March 12, 1932 in DuBois, daughter of the late Richard C. Anderson Sr. and Laura E. (Derolf) Anderson.
On July 26, 1953, in DuBois, she married Charles E. Hockman and he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1992.
She was a housewife and candy maker and a former telephone operator for Bell Telephone. She graduated from DuBois Area High School in 1950.
