Dorothy Carolyne Duke Gray Dollinger, 87, of 891 Shelvey Summit Rd., Ridgway, and formerly of Main Street, Kersey, died Thursday evening, Sept. 19, 2013, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 2, 1926 in Goshen, daughter of the late Daniel Duke and Ada Shovestul. She was a graduate of Clearfield High School, Class of 1944, and had been a resident of the area since 1944. She was a retired employee of Exotic Metals (Metaldyne).
David Carlyle Kirkland, age 81, of 12219 Shanley Hill, Hallton, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb.18, 1932, at the Shanley Homestead, Shanley Hill, Hallton, Pennsylvania, one of three children to Virginia Shanley and Claude Kirkland.
David married his beloved Frances J. Henry on Nov. 23, 1957, and they had been married for 56 years.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 3-1 victory over the Ridgway Lady Elkers Thursday night at the ECCHS gym.
Elk Catholic won the first set 25-16 and the second sets 25-17. Ridgway took the third set 27-25. ECC won the fourth set 25-12 to win the match 3-1.

The St. Marys Lady Dutch volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by the visiting Bradford Lady Owls on Thursday evening at the SMAHS Dutch Oven, but each set was much more exciting than the final score of the match indicates.
The St. Marys Area Dutch soccer team played an exciting match on Thursday afternoon as they hosted the Coudersport Falcons at the SMAHS soccer field, unfortunately the game did not end as the Dutchmen had hoped as Coudersport was able to score the lone goal of the match for the 1-0 victory.
LeRoy J. Neubert, 70, of 86 Worral St., Wilcox, died on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1942 in Benzinger, son of the late LeRoy E. and Anne Danko Neubert.
He married Doris Stewart on May 3, 1973 in St. Callistus Church in Kane, who survives.
Leroy resided in Wilcox all his life. He was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School in 1960.
The eight-member committee of the Bavarian Fall Fest have worked throughout the year in planning the 2013 festival.
