Dutchmen dominate Wolves in boys soccer action

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen boys’ soccer team dominated a weary Kane team on Tuesday afternoon on the Wolves’ home field. The Dutchmen scored twice in the first 25 minutes and added three more second half goals to leave McKean County with the 5-0 win.

PUNXSUTAWNEY — A Punxsutawney man has been arrested in connection with the death of the man whose body parts were found in Mahoning Creek in the village of Hamilton in Perry Township on Sunday afternoon.

William H. Blankenship

William Howard Blankenship, 79, of Ludlow, died on Monday morning, Sept. 16, 2013, at the Warren General Hospital with his loving family singing praises by his side.
William, known to many as Bill, was born Sept. 18, 1933, to the late Orla and Carrie Morton Blankenship in Gauley Bridge, W. Va. He married his wife, Barbara Bragg, in 1952, in Gauley Bridge where the two of them began their life together. The couple made their move to Kinzua in 1959, then to Ludlow, where they finished raising their large family of 16.

Lady Dutch soccer shuts out Kane 3-0

The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch soccer team got back into the win column on Monday afternoon by shutting out the Kane Lady Wolves 3-0 in a match played at the SMAHS soccer field.

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch golf team raised their record to 2-4 on Monday with a 214-251 victory over the Kane Wolves at the Bavarian Hills Golf Course.
Dutchman Owen Schreiber was the medalist for the day with his 37.

Shirley Ann Klein

Shirley Ann Klein, 77, of 417 Old Kersey Rd., Kersey, and formerly of Laurel Lane, Kersey, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at the UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 3, 1936 in Toby Valley, daughter of the late Angelo and Doris Blick Morelli. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1955. She was a former employee of the Stackpole Corporation and worked 25 years at Pinecrest Manor as the assistant activities director.

Council debates potential per unit water charge

In a 4-3 vote members of St. Marys City Council narrowly approved a motion to have the city solicitor research information on how the city ordinance could be changed to allow for the city to collect base water rates of $19.50/month from each unit in multi-unit buildings.
