Members of the Cameron and Elk Counties Local Housing Options Team [LHOT] met Wednesday afternoon to continue preparations for the third annual housing expo on Feb. 7 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Edgewood Hall in St. Marys.

ST. MARYS - The first St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors meeting of 2013 began Thursday with moment of silence in honor of the victims of the December 14, 2012 shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn. This coincided with discussion of how the district might heighten security efforts and safety procedures in the wake of the tragic shooting, which claimed the lives of 20 children and six adults, teachers and staff at the school.

Etta C. Hicks, 97, of River Road, Weedville, died on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at the DuBois Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1915 in Kittanning, daughter of the late Harry and Floda Dell (Campbell) Brumbaugh.
She married Jesse Lee Hicks Jr. on Feb. 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1998.
Mrs. Hicks was a Bennetts Valley resident since 1950. She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, embroidery, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially the Sunday dinners.
Mary V. Dollinger, 90, of 163 Hemlock Rd., St. Marys, died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 22, 1922 in Ramsaytown, daughter of the late Steven and Agnes Krizmanich. On Aug. 25, 1945, in Our Lady of Christian Church in Byrnedale, she married William H. Dollinger. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1997.
The St. Marys Area High School girlsâ€™ and boysâ€™ swim squads improved their dual meet records to 2-0 when they met the Brookville Raiders at home on Thursday night.
