Dr. Edith Mary Robacker, 70, of The Villages, Fla., died on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013.
She was born in St. Marys and moved to The Villages in 2002 from Clarksville, Md.
She was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lady Lake, Fla.
William A. "Birdseed" Myers, 59, of Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys, formerly of 320 Mill St., Johnsonburg died on Tuesday evening, Oct. 1, 2013, at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
He was born on June 15, 1954 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Wallace "Wally" and Lorna Amory Myers.
He lived in Johnsonburg all his life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1973.
He was a member of the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church, Johnsonburg Fire Department for 41 years, and Tri-County Firemen's Association, Central District.
Victoria A. "Vicky" Lewis, age 67, of Elbon Road, Brockport, died Oct. 2, 2013 at her residence.
She was born Aug. 1, 1946 in St. Marys, daughter of Alvin and Theresa Sheley Herzing.
On Oct. 31, 1964, she married Roy "Butch" Lewis, he survives.
She was a member at Holy Cross Church in Brandy Camp.
Vicky was a member of the Horton Township/Brockway Lions Club where she served as treasurer. She was also a social member of the ABVA of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 720.
She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, camping and spending time with her family.
Helen F. "Honey" (Azzato) Allegretto, 81, of Redwood Street, Weedville, died on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at Christ the King Manor after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 10, 1932 in Weedville, daughter of the late John and Louise (Crocco) Azzato.
On July 4, 1953 she married Richard James Allegretto and he preceded her in death on June 28, 2010.
She lived most of her life in Weedville and was a graduate of Weedville High School, Class of 1950. She was a past employee of Stackpole Carbon and a homemaker.
he Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders kept their win streak going on Tuesday afternoon with a 3-1 victory over cross town rival St. Marys Area in a match played at Benzinger Park.
Â After a scoreless first half, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders were able to score three goals in the second half of Tuesday's game against crosstown rival St. Marys Area to claim a 3-0 shutout victory under the lights at Angela Huey Memorial Field at Fox Township Community Park.
The Elk County Catholic cross country teams played host to the St. Marys Area and St. Joseph's Catholic Academy squads Tuesday afternoon at Benzinger Park.
In the boys' races, Elk Catholic edged St. Marys 28-29 while losing to St. Joseph's 24-31. St. Joseph's also defeated St. Marys Area 26-30.
In the girls' race, St. Marys Area downed Elk Catholic 24-31 and St. Joseph's 16-41. ECC beat St. Joseph's 17-41.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader volleyball team raised their record to 7-1 on the season with a 3-0 victory over the DuBois Area Lady Beavers Tuesday night at the ECCHS gym.
John Edward Zernell, Sr., 74, of Daniel Street, Brockport, died on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 12, 1939 in Weedville, son of the late Sylvester & Loretta (Spencer) Zernell.
He married Debra (Butler) on February 27, 1988.
He lived most of his life in Weedville and Penfield and the past eight years in Brockport.
Mr. Zernell worked at Carbon Graphite of St. Mary for 34 years. He was a member of the Penfield Firemenâ€™s and past volunteer with Bennetts Valley Ambulance where he served for many years.
Helene A. Shuster Weis, 86, of Rockford, Ill., died at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, in her home. Â
Born July 18, 1927, in St. Marys, she was the daughter of Mathew and Johanna (Stemberger) Shuster. Â
She married James E. Weis Aug. 23, 1947, in St. Marys. Helene spent many wonderful years as a â€śhomemakerâ€ť because making a home and being a mother was her finest accomplishment. As a mother, she was beautiful and vulnerable and taught her children, not on purpose, the risk of having love as your only job. She also taught them the importance of family and the richness of friends.
