Ridgway woman sentenced for role in prison drug plot

JEFFERSON CO. – A Ridgway woman has been sentenced to one year in the Jefferson County Accelerated Rehabilitation Program after she pleaded guilty to selling marijuana on behalf of a Jefferson County inmate in August of 2012.

Cancer survivors create new support group

A new cancer support group is being started in Kersey as an outlet for patients, survivors and caregivers battling the disease. Their first meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 1 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Kersey United Methodist Church and will continue to meet at the same time and location during the first Monday of every month.

Grace S. Wurm

Grace S. Wurm, 89, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of Woodland Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 5, 1923 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Jost and Anna Caskey Wehler.
On May 4, 1946 in St. Marys Church, she married the late Edward "Abie" Wurm, who preceded her in death on September 22, 1993.

Details emerge in homicide investigation

JOHNSONBURG – On Wednesday, police released further details of their investigation into the death of an 18-year-old Johnsonburg woman whose body was found Tuesday in a park on the outskirts of Ridgway.

Public meeting held on SR 255 project

Representatives from PennDOT and the project contractor met with residents and business owners to discuss the state Route 255 project during a public meeting held Wednesday evening at South St. Marys Street Elementary School. Work on the project is expected to start within the next two weeks.

Cleanup continues on Bennett Branch
