JEFFERSON CO. – A Ridgway woman has been sentenced to one year in the Jefferson County Accelerated Rehabilitation Program after she pleaded guilty to selling marijuana on behalf of a Jefferson County inmate in August of 2012.
A new cancer support group is being started in Kersey as an outlet for patients, survivors and caregivers battling the disease. Their first meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 1 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Kersey United Methodist Church and will continue to meet at the same time and location during the first Monday of every month.

Members of the executive committee of the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission on Wednesday morning explored the benefits of energy aggregation and how it may benefit the six-county region.

That's the inspiring comment from the Rev. Jeanne Beers of Ludlow after she miraculously escaped serious injury in a spectacular traffic accident Thursday morning on Route 6 near her home.
Grace S. Wurm, 89, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of Woodland Road, St. Marys, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 5, 1923 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Jost and Anna Caskey Wehler.
On May 4, 1946 in St. Marys Church, she married the late Edward "Abie" Wurm, who preceded her in death on September 22, 1993.

JOHNSONBURG – On Wednesday, police released further details of their investigation into the death of an 18-year-old Johnsonburg woman whose body was found Tuesday in a park on the outskirts of Ridgway.
Representatives from PennDOT and the project contractor met with residents and business owners to discuss the state Route 255 project during a public meeting held Wednesday evening at South St. Marys Street Elementary School. Work on the project is expected to start within the next two weeks.

Efforts continue in the remediation of the main stem of the Bennett Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek and Elk County officials were recently invited to assist even further with recreational use of the cleansed site.
With preliminary work already under way on the construction project along SR 255 in St. Marys, another piece of the puzzle recently fell into place as demolition permits were issued for structures that are planned to be removed as part of the project.
