Cameron County residents are welcome to bring their electronic devices to the Elk County Community Recycling Center and efforts have been made to clear up a recent miscommunication on the matter.
Keith J. Knouse, 82, of Burke, Va., and a former St. Marys resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at the home of his daughter, Annette Kohn of Burke, Va., after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 8, 1930 in St. Marys, son of the late Roland “Tex” H. and Lavina Klein Knouse. On July 15, 1961 in the St. Mary’s Church, he married Theresia M. Rettger, who preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2005.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1949. He was a retired employee of Quality Components, retiring in 1994 after over 30 years of service.
George F. Hutton, 76, of Bennetts Valley, Byrnedale, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at Christ the King Manor of DuBois.
He was born Dec. 15, 1936 in Mahaffey, son of the late Harold and Martha (Reasinger) Hutton.
In 1961, he married to Joan (Kuchy) Hutton, who survives.
George was raised in Benezette and lived the rest of his life in Byrnedale.Â
He was a graduate of Benezette School, Class of 1953. He worked with PennDOT for 11 years, was owner of the Log Cabin Inn for 15 years, worked construction until 2000 and also for Lyn-Clare flower shop for several years.
Greta A. Eckert, 79, of 351 N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, and formerly of Ridgway-Johnsonburg Road, Johnsonburg, died on Friday morning, March 1, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born March 13, 1933 in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth St. John Dorio.
On Oct. 6, 1962 in Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, she married the late Wilfred E. "Buck" Eckert Jr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2012.

JAY TWP. - On Jan. 3, representatives of the Pennsylvania Game Commission met with a standing-room-only crowd at the Bennetts Valley Senior Center in Weedville to discuss the commission's plan to trap and remove the animals.

Officials at the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission have reviewed favorable numbers for a new website initiative geared toward the expansion of community input in various North Central projects.

Clarence A. "Kike" Mowrey, 85, of 410 Clarion Rd., Johnsonburg, died early Thursday morning, February 28, 2013 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a brief illness.
He was born on September 24, 1927, in Johnsonburg, son of the late Byron and Lillian Anderson Mowrey.
On December 23, 1950 he married Margaret M. Fedus, and she preceded him in death June 13, 1992.

The St. Marys Area Swim and Dive team will compete at the 2013 PIAA District IX Swim and Dive Championships Saturday at Clarion University’s Tippin Natatorium.
