The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen golf team lost to the visiting Ridgway Elkers 205-229 on Thursday afternoon at the Bavarian Hills Golf Course.
The Johnsonburg Ramettes improved to 2-1 on the season with a 5-4 win Thursday against visiting St. Marys.
The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader tennis team improved to 5-2 on their season with an 8-1 victory over a shorthanded Brockway squad played under sunny skies at Benzinger Park on Thursday afternoon.
The Elk County Community Foundation (ECCF) celebrated yet another major milestone in surpassing the $2 million mark in total dollars awarded to community agencies, municipalities and groups.
During the foundation's 10th anniversary in 2010, they granted their first million dollars.
"We are so excited that it only took three more years to hit this next milestone," said Paula Fritz-Eddy, executive director.
To date nearly 100 crews have traveled to the west in support of the fire community currently battling the summer wildfires.

Shirley H. Fitzgerald, 84, of 238 Parkview Rd, St. Marys, died Friday morning, Sept. 6, 2013, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 19, 1929 in Bradford, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mabell Iddings Hokanson. She was a graduate of Bradford High School, Class of 1947 and had been a resident of St. Marys since 1951.
On November 24, 1949 in Bradford, she married William K. Fitzgerald, who survives.
Kurt Steinerâ€™s right arm may be a little sore today.
But the pain will be well worth it if he regains a Guinness world record for skipping stones.
Steiner tried to establish the record Friday by skipping smooth Lake Erie beach stones on the Allegheny Reservoir near the mouth of Kinzua Creek at Red Bridge.
Kathleen Y. Simbeck, 84, of Milwaukee, Wis., and formerly of St. Marys, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at the Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, Wis., after an extended illness.
She was born Kathleen Yetzer on March 9, 1929, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Carl Yetzer Sr. and Kathryn Fitzgerald Yetzer.
She sang in school choirs and plays, and was named Miss Elk County in 1947, competing that year in the Miss Pennsylvania pageant. She was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School. She sang with big bands including the Sammy Yarfido Band, a popular regional combo.
A proposal to purchase temporary access road rights to be used for the construction of a gas pipeline was introduced to the St. Marys Area School District board of directors during their Thursday evening work session.
Steve Files, a contractor working with EQT Midstream Partners based in the company's DuBois field office, was on hand to provide details of the proposal.
Area residents took time to reflect on Thursday evening at a gathering at Memorial Park in St. Marys to honor four members of the community who died in a car crash Saturday. Those in attendance released balloons into the sky "In Memory of Gary and Elaine Beimel, Davey Cuneo and "Flossie" Donachy,"-- "In memory of those who have left us, may this light rise to the heavens to shine with you through all eternity."
