Odor reported at CNB Bank

Emergency response crews were dispatched to County National Bank, 133 Washington St., in St. Marys on Monday afternoon following the report of an odor inside the building. The St. Marys Ambulance and Crystal Fire Department were both called to the scene at 3:44 p.m.

St. Marys to get Civil Air Patrol squadron

Attendees at the American Spirit Aviation Festival at the St. Marys Municipal Airport on Saturday likely saw Civil Air Patrol members from both the Clarion and Warren squadrons assisting with the operation of the event and also manning an information booth to spread the word about the organization as St. Marys will soon be getting its own Civil Air Patrol squadron.

L-39 Albatros one highlight of Aviation Festival

One of the highlights for attendees at the American Spirit Aviation Festival on Saturday at the St. Marys Municipal Airport was getting to see Lee Gilbert perform maneuvers in his Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros and also get an up-close look at the plane as Gilbert fielded questions after landing at the event.

As many individuals traveling by or walking along SR 255 in the construction zone located between Tractor Supply and Dairy Queen have likely noticed, a graded path is now located along the west side of the roadway.

Kane teacher Jeff Gibbs faces 10-day suspension

KANE – Kane School District Superintendent Dr. Maryann Anderson has suspended high school teacher Jeff Gibbs for alleged violations of school policy.
According to sources, Gibbs reportedly has been suspended for 10 days and won’t be teaching Tuesday when classes resume.

ECC golfers defeat Bradford

The Elk County Catholic High School golf team recorded another victory on Thursday afternoon, this time defeating the Bradford High School squad 206-213 in the Crusaders' home opener at Leaning Pines Public Golf Course.

Marie G. Ginther, 66, of 244 Fairview Road, Kersey, died while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Clearfield Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born July 1, 1947 in St. Marys, daughter of the late John “Buddy” Gradl and Georgia Beimel Gradl, who survives, of Kersey. On October 10, 1970, in the St. Boniface Church, she married David F. Ginther, who survives.

Hanger visits St. Marys, talks education

Indicted doctor operated Kane office without permit

KANE – A Clarion psychiatrist, indicted by a state grand jury on 35 felony charges, is accused of operating his Kane clinic without a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit.
Dr. Thomas Edward Radecki, 67, in 2011 and 2012 allegedly purchased and distributed more than 183,000 doses of Subutex-- a drug used to treat patients addicted to heroin or methadone.

Alvin E. Shutters Jr., 52, of Caledonia Road, Weedville, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 20, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born May 18, 1961 in Ridgway, son of the late Alvin E. Shutters Sr. and Freda Alice (Thacher) Shutters, who survives.
In 1979, he married Carrie (Aul) Shutters, who survives.
He lived most of his life in Bennetts Valley. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School and attended Penn State University.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1983-1987.
