Seth Easton Gilbert

July 7, 2013

Seth Easton Gilbert, 12, of Reynoldsville, went home with the angels, Saturday, July 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 21, 2001, in DuBois, the son of Theodore J. and Cherie J. (Trude) Gilbert of Reynoldsville, who survive.
He loved to swim and play with his sisters, Brittany, Lexie and Isabel.
In addition to his parents, Ted and Cherie, he is survived by his sisters, Brittany and Isabel Gilbert and Lexie Trude, all of Reynoldsville; his maternal and paternal grandparents and great-grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Arlene M. (Blauser) Garbarino

Arlene M. (Blauser) Garbarino, age 61, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at her home in Midway with her family at her side.
She was born April 12, 1952 in Ridgway, daughter of John and Jacqueline (Garity) Blauser of Ridgway.
Arlene enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling to yard sales and flea markets, and also donated her time to the Midway Community Center, the Girl Scouts where she served as a leader, and to the Midway Fire Department.

Proposed 'Voire Dire' filed in Emporium kidnap case

WILLIAMSPORT – Federal prosecutors in the USA V. Thomas Smith, the case of an Emporium man charged with the August 2012 attempted abduction of a bank teller at gunpoint, have submitted questions to be asked of prospective jurors when trial proceedings, previously set to begin today, resume on Aug. 5.

Businesses expanding in St. Marys

Recently the St. Marys City Council approved applications for a new business and a business expansion.
Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance or LERTA applications for were received from Foster Wineland for a new 10,500 square foot heavy equipment sales, service and repair building on Grotzinger Road; from Keystone Powdered Metal for a 9,000 square foot warehouse addition; and from Custom Industrial Processing Inc. for two projects.

Community pool celebrating 50 years

For 50 years the St. Marys Community Pool has been providing area residents with a way to beat the heat during the hot summer months and, in honor of the occasion, the pool plans to hold a special celebration on Wednesday during normal pool hours.

Senior baseball stars defeat Brockway 14-3 in five innings

The St. Marys Little League senior all stars recorded a 14-3 five-inning victory over Brockway on Friday evening at Berwind Park.

St. Marys major baseball stars down Warren 11-5

July 5, 2013

The St. Marys Little League Baseball Major all stars (11-12 year olds) advanced to the finals of the District 10 Tournament with an 11-5 victory over the Warren all stars Friday night at Memorial Park.
With the win, St. Marys wins the loser's bracket and will now take on DuBois on Sunday at a site and time to be announced for the District 10 crown.

Dorothy "Dottie" Gorman

Dorothy "Dottie" Gorman, 72, of Carlsbad, Calif., died July 4, 2013 at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, Calif. after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born June 26, 1941 in Union City, N.J., the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Kau Gleason.
On April 24, 1965 at St. Veronica's Church in Howell, N.J. she married Patrick Gorman, who was born and raised in St. Marys. She and Patrick resided in Little Silver, N.J. for 34 years until 2002 when they retired to Carlsbad, Calif.

7, 8, and 32 year-old found dead in Brockport home

HORTON TWP. – State police are investigating the deaths of three individuals, ages 7, 8, and 32, at a Brockport home Thursday night.
According to police, the deaths occurred at a 4708 Route 219 residence between 7 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. on July 4.

City Council encourages bike safety
